Irish Cultural Festival

 

March 17-19, 2017

Celebrate Irish cultural expression at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan with a weekend full of scavenger hunts, stories and design workshops. Create a leprechaun hat, design a colorful stained-glass artwork, and learn about the tradition of Irish Step Dance. From March 17-19 join us on a search for shamrocks scattered throughout the Museum for a chance to win a Golden Shamrock Ticket and a FREE Museum membership! 
 
Shamrock Search: Scavenger Hunt
Search for that shamrock! Find shamrocks with interesting Irish trivia scattered throughout the Museum. Learn all about Ireland on your search. Turn in your completed trivia sheet for a Golden Shamrock Ticket to an exclusive Ireland inspired artmaking studio and a chance to win a FREE Museum membership!

Towers of Glass: Stained Glass Window Design
Design a colorful, stained-glass design using colored plastic and paper. Explore Ireland’s rich tradition in stained glass windows and learn about the famous An Túr Gloine (Gaelic for "Tower of Glass")—a studio in Ireland known for their amazing works of art and design.

Irish Step Dance with Katie Thokar
Explore the unique history of Irish Step dancing with Children’s Museum Educator and dancer Katie Thokar! Discover the architecture behind the elaborate costumes of this traditional dance. Design your own costume and learn some basic steps.
