Gentle Separation Classes

Welcome to the Children's Museum of Manhattan’s Early Childhood Program

Your child belongs in a museum! The Children’s Museum Early Childhood Program will introduce your child to New York City’s cultural resources through our dynamic, award-winning exhibits; guest artists; and brain-boosting experiences in art, science, math, culture and more. Our classes are engaging and developmentally appropriate for children from twelve months to 4 years. All classes align with Pre-K learning standards.

Philosophy

As a place committed to joyful inspiration and discovery, the Children’s Museum offers an enticing entry point to lifelong learning. We believe that children develop and learn best in nurturing creative environments that support play, curiosity and discovery. As a children’s museum, our five floors of innovative, hands-on exhibits and learning spaces are designed to support the development of young minds.

Choose from the following classes offered this Spring!

Museum Explorers Ages 2 – 3 years

Children and their grown-ups will gradually separate as these special classes gently ease young learners into the preschool experience. As children become familiar with the routine of class, grown-ups are guided through the separation process by the Museum’s experienced staff. This program helps children gain independence as they develop preschool readiness skills in a safe, stimulating environment.

Each class, led by expert early childhood educators, is curated around a theme featured in our captivating hands-on environments. Guided explorations of our popular exhibits encourage a sense of discovery and introduce children to language and early literacy, science and math, and arts and culture. Throughout the semester guest artists, scientists, chefs and performers will lead workshops further enriching your child’s experience of the day’s subject and opening a gateway to learning and to New York’s cultural riches.
