The Children’s Museum of Manhattan is the perfect New York City venue for your next event!
When you rent our facilities, 100% of your rental fee supports the general operating expenses of the Museum, allowing us to better serve all families, every day.
What is included in my rental?
Rental prices include all fees and administrative charges; complimentary rental of available Museum furniture; security, maintenance and coat-check staff, and a day-of events coordinator. Catering, catering equipment and linens are not included. A/V equipment may incur an additional fee.

What spaces do you have available?
The Children’s Museum contains 5 floors of exhibits, with a single exhibit on each floor, and 4 classrooms. The Museum is open 7 days a week in Summer and Tues - Sun in Fall, Winter and Spring. The most popular spaces for rentals are listed below:
Lower Level Function Area
Currently themed as a rock ‘n’ roll play space, the lower level of the Museum can be entirely closed off from the rest of the Museum, and components can be rearranged to accomodate a wide range of events. The floor contains both male and female restrooms, as well as a staffroom and storage area that can be utilized by clients upon request.
Capacity: up to 180 (mix of adults and children) or 100 (all adults)
Best pick for: Media Events, Corporate Functions, Large Private Parties
Host your event in NYC's premier Early Childhood exhibit! This open classroom is perfect for semi-public events where you would like to welcome the Museum’s general public to attend or view the action taking place.
Capacity: up to 40 (spill over can be accomodated in the exhibit, with certain restrictions)
Best pick for: Product Launches & Sampling, Book Launches, Market Research
The Museum contains 5 floors of fascinating family exhibits including PlayWorks, EatSleepPlay, The Adventures of Dora and Diego and CitySplash, all available for rental outside of museum operating hours (Sun – Fri after 5pm and before 10am, Sat after 7pm and before 10am). During the cooler months, from approximately Labor Day through Memorial Day, the Museum is closed for school groups on Mondays, and exhibits may also be rented during that time (for example, for corporate holiday events.)
Please note: CMOM’s mission is to serve the community, and as such, exhibits are rarely closed to the public during opening hours unless it is deemed that the funds raised will more than offset public disappointment and inconvenience. The cost of closing an exhibit during public opening hours is priced to accommodate a reduction in admission and the need to notify the public in advance, and is likely to be higher than $10,000.

The Museum contains 4 classrooms that can also be rented for private use for single events. Please note: our classrooms are often fully booked on weekday mornings, when the Museum runs Enrollment Classes and School Programs. Due to high demand, the Museum cannot rent classrooms on a weekly basis to external class providers.

Whole Museum + Lobby
For after-hours events, the Museum's double-height lobby space balances elegant architecture within a family-friendly setting. Spilling into the first floor exhibit, this area can accomodate a large number of guests. Coat-check and Admissions can function as per normal for your guests, or be transformed into bar/food service areas. Please note that, due to the layout of the lobby and adjacent exhibit, seating your guests at tables for food service is not possible.

What kind of events aren't suitable for the Children's Museum?
The Museum does not have an events kitchen or large areas of open-plan floor space. This usually means that sit-down dinners, such as weddings, are not possible.
Buy-outs of the whole Museum (requiring closure during normal operating hours) are typically unable to be accomodated.
Recurring rentals (e.g. for weekly classes) are not possible due to the changing availability of our spaces.
Do you allow food and drink to be brought in?
Yes! You can pick a caterer of your choosing, or choose from one of our recommended vendors.
