Museum Policies

  • CMOM is bursting with fun, but short on space. Please leave your stroller at home, or bring one that easily folds.
  • CMOM does not have a cafeteria, and there is no food or drink allowed in the Museum. There are many family-friendly restaurants in the area and your admission stamp allows you to re-enter the Museum as many times as you like for the day.

Dynamic H2O Science Labs, 11:00am

Engineer a miniature aqueduct system, clean water through natural filtration, search for pollutants and other chemicals in water or create prints to explore the diverse sea life found in New York City’s rivers.

Jam Band, 11:30am

Use tambourines, maracas, bells and rhythm sticks to make beats as CMOM educators lead you in a collaborative and creative jam session.

Haja: The Bird Who Was Afraid to Fly with Julia Jordon Kamanda, 12:00pm

Celebrate world music and learn about the element of rhythm with the author of Haja: The Bird Who Was Afraid to Fly! West Africa's vibrant colors and sounds come to life in the tale of a small bird who must face her biggest fear. Meet singer-songwriter and "Music Mommy", Julia Jordan Kamanda as she shares the story and music from Haja's world.

Create a paper cup drum with Julia Jordon Kamanda, 2:00pm

Celebrate world music and learn about the element of rhythm with the author of Haja: The Bird Who Was Afraid to Fly! Meet singer-songwriter, Julia Jordan Kamanda as she helps you create a paper cup drum inspired by the music in her story.

Seashell Exploration, 3:00pm

Seashells come in all shapes, colors and sizes.  Investigate various types of seashells using magnifying glasses. What do they have in common? How are they different?
