‘Inside Art’ at the Children’s Museum
MANHATTAN — There’s a new art installation called “Inside Art” at the Children’s Museum.
It combines creativity and science, while teaching kids about protecting our environment.
Pint size museum goers kids can explore, touch crawl, peak, and find fun surprises with each display. It’s all part of the museum’s effort to introduce kids to contemporary art while teaching them about our environment and the choices we make.
Tamara Kostianovsky is one eleven artists involved in the display.
“I was drawn to one tree that had a particular smell, that caught my attention as I was touring the sight. I found out it was called a rosewood tree because of the sent it had, she says.
Kostianovsky spent three months sewing a three dimensional collage using an old tree stump layered with recycled clothing, inspired by a rosewood tree in Argentina. Visitors can also look inside for a video that showcases the lifespan of a tree.
All of the artists featured have their own interpretation on art as well as ways to give back to our planet. The installation is also a true testament to the theory that it’s never too early to teach kids about the importance of giving back to our planet.
