All The Way To K

Building Strong Foundations for Learning

Talking with your child every day builds the language and literacy skills they need for success in school and beyond. All the Way to K provides parents, caregivers, and educators with research-backed resources, activities, and strategies to help young children (birth to age 5) develop essential language skills through conversation, storytelling, music, and play.

Developed in partnership with the NYC Department of Education, NYC Administration for Children’s Services, and Johns Hopkins University Science of Learning Institute, this initiative is grounded in cutting-edge literacy research. Through simple, engaging activities, families can turn everyday moments into learning opportunities, laying the foundation for kindergarten readiness and a lifelong love of learning.

Explore free, downloadable posters and activity guides in English and Spanish to spark conversation and support your child’s early literacy journey.

Storytelling Videos
Reading together is a wonderful way to introduce your child to letters, words, and stories. As you explore books, ask questions, talk about the pictures, and let your child take the lead—just like our storytellers do in the videos below. Sharing family stories and rereading favorite books helps build vocabulary, memory, and a lifelong love of reading. Introduce your child to the love of reading with this list of additional books!

Music Videos
Singing, in any language, and moving together with your child is a fun way for them to learn rhythm and new words! Enjoy the music videos and a song list of our favorites.
